Part 2: Week Two
When I look back on the few times in my life when I've lost weight, I am able to narrow it down to one common denominator - GROUP ACCOUNTABILITY. I participated in group accountability through the duration of my weight loss journey, but then I stopped once I had reached my goal. The moment I stopped participating in the accountability group, the weight started creeping back. Why? Because I had no one to answer to other than myself. If I didn't exercise for a week or if I binged on fast food, no one was there to call me out on it.
As a Beachbody Coach, I participate DAILY in a virtual (and private) Challenge Group. Just knowing that I have to share with the group each day helps me make smarter choices. The last thing I want to do is tell everyone I ate a pint of Ben & Jerry's! BUT if that's what I ate, then that's what I have to post. Accountability is about being HONEST and TAKING RESPONSIBILITY for our own actions (the good, the bad & the ugly).
Other days it helps us OWN UP.
I also struggled more this week with the eating plan than I did in Week 1. There were a couple days when I skipped lunch, which is neither a HEALTHY nor effective way to lose weight. It was not intentional, I just got busy and forgot. Is that a good enough excuse? Absolutely not! What I learned this week is that I must make healthy eating a PRIORITY, just as much as I've made exercise a priority. I actually lost significantly more weight in Week 1 when I ate every single container, than I did in Week 2 when I cheated myself. My body needed FUEL, and depriving myself of it did not help me toward my goals.
Next week I'm going BACK TO THE BASICS. I will track my food intake by using the 21 Day Fix Tally Sheets, and make healthy eating a priority again. At the same time, daily exercise must remain a priority. By staying FOCUSED and ACCOUNTABLE, I will be able to complete this 21 Day Challenge and achieve incredible results!
